School of Health and Human Sciences

(Ref. ACS427)  Due an increase in the intake of student nurses in the School of Health and Human Sciences, we are seeking to appoint three Lecturers in Nursing, one of which is a 12 month fixed term position to cover a secondment.  The successful applicants will join a dynamic and enthusiastic team supporting pre-registration nursing programmes based primarily at Southend Campus.

The successful applicants will need to demonstrate the ability to lead and teach modules, assess and supervise students, develop clinical skills training and further develop close links with local health organisations.

Candidates must have current registration as a nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Council, ideally with a registered teaching award.  Expertise in a specified field of mental health/adult nursing is required.  Posts are subject to a DBS check.  Travel within Essex will be required.

The School of Health and Human Sciences

The School of Health and Human Sciences is proud to be the top performing education establishment in the East of England. The pre-registration courses received a RAG rating of ‘green’ across the board by largest commissioner of health education in the region, and they are the only provider in the region to receive a score of 100 (the highest ranking possible) for three of their programmes.  The quality of the provision is a reflection of the high reputation which has been built up with key stakeholders and marks us out as a leader in the field.

The ‘can do’ of attitude of the School’s staff and one of the founder members (the late Kimmy Eldridge OBE) has facilitated the continued growth through an innovative and supportive approach to the development of new courses and schemes.   The School provides a range of opportunities for study in Nursing, Allied Health, Oral Health, Clinical Psychology and Psychological Well-being, Social work and Social & Community development, continuing professional development and Sports Therapy.
