You’re a Nurse Advisor because you care. Because you know you can make a difference to the wellbeing of others. And because you’re not just good at it, you’re absolutely outstanding. That’s why you’ll fit perfectly into our team – because we fully believe that nurses who genuinely want to improve the lives of others are the best type of nurses – particularly those who are given plenty of support and training to ensure they reach their full potential. And as our Nurse Advisor for Adults on the Autistic Spectrum, your work has never been more important.

Providing clinical guidance to multi-disciplinary teams who are working with adults with autism, you will ensure that these patients receive a sensitively tailored service for their healthcare needs, particularly when they need technical intervention. As such, you will educate nurses and other professionals across the secondary, primary and voluntary sectors. Developing guidelines, standards, protocols and so forth, you will inspire nursing excellence amongst our committed teams, and you will contribute to clinical audits and research to ensure we are adequately equipped to provide the highest quality of care and make the most of our resources.

You’ll have plenty of autonomy in this fantastic role, so you’ll need to be have great organisation and time management skills with the ability to balance your workload.  As a registered nurse with at least four/five years of experience – two of which will be in a speciality area with the relevant qualification or award – you will also ideally have a teaching or mentorship qualification. With experience of providing acute or community-based nursing to Adults on the Autism Spectrum you will have comprehensive communication skills with the natural ability to lead others and inspire change.

At the States of Jersey, we offer a linked-up service in which Health and Social Services are combined, to be provided by one organisation. It makes for a more seamless service in which our teams spend less time doing admin and more time with their patients – and it is this that will make your role infinitely better. Furthermore, you will be supported every step of the way with mentorship and training opportunities – so you really can make something special of this role.

If your ability to care forms the basis of every interaction with your patients, then contact Robert Gardner on 01534 445717.
