Complex Care Clinical Nurse Specialist HCL is working with a hospital known the world over for its clinical excellence, it is the only private hospital in London entirely dedicated to women and children. They`re proud to have developed a reputation as one of the world`s leading providers of private healthcare, specialising in Obstetrics (Maternity), Women's Health and Paediatrics. The hospital has been consistently growing over the past few years, almost doubling since 2008. The Paediatric wards hold 56 inpatient beds + 11 day case and are equipped with the latest technology to provide advanced medical and surgical care, including a Paediatric Intensive Care Unit which reflects the acuity and complex nature of the children who are admitted to our hospital. The hospital has a large number of international Paediatric patients, often funded by relevant embassies. This is the only fully private maternity hospital in the UK. The hospital provides for both consultant-led and midwifery-led deliveries, having an 18 bedded ward to facilitate this. Alongside this there is a 12 bedded Gynaecology and Women`s Health in-patient ward. The Portland Hospital also has a large outpatient department for all areas of its clinical expertise, to facilitate continuous care or simpler procedures. Job Description The Clinical Nurse Specialist will provide specialist clinical expertise to the Complex Care Unit ensuring consistently outstanding standards of clinical practice throughout the team and that patient care is of a best practice standard. They will be seen as the subject matter expert, supporting the team through offering advice, support, coaching and development. They will also support the senior nursing team in auditing the department and implementing changes to continuously improve the standards of care, efficiency of department and patient satisfaction. Duties and Responsibilities Demonstrate excellent clinical practice at all times Act as a highly visible role model and subject matter expert to the team, providing support and clinical leadership to assist them in their clinical practice In association with patients, their carers and the multidisciplinary team assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care Investigate incidents, feedback and complaints thoroughly, enabling response and improvements to the service provided Responsible for initiating, developing and promoting evidence based practice within the clinical area Keep up to date with current research and best practice within the clinical specialty area and ensure individual professional competence is maintained To commit to undertake further training necessary to perform advanced clinical practice Assist with the training, development and coaching of the nursing team, ensuring best practice standards are maintained at all times. Skills and Experience RSCN / RCN with current NMC PIN Extensive post registration experience within a relevant clinical speciality ENB 998 (or equivalent) Responsive and sensitive to patients` physical, psychological, spiritual and cultural requirements Strong leadership and team development experience Able to work autonomously as well as part of a team Excellent verbal and written English communication skills Working towards, or completed, a relevant Masters level degree (or equivalent) About the Individual The successful candidate will be motivated by continuously updating and sharing their knowledge, ensuring that the team around are always in line with best practice standards and have industry leading information. They will be seeing patients with high levels of acuity and will be able to communicate with them with tact, diplomacy and sensitivity, whilst remaining professional.
