Want to become a midwife?

Consider our shortened pre-registration Bachelor of Midwifery (Hons) course for Registered Nurses (Adult)

Starting on 21st January 2013, this 80 week course is designed for Registered Nurses (adult level 1) to become competent practising midwives. It’s divided into two teaching periods and the modules reflect the complexity of independent midwifery practice alongside the midwife’s multi-faceted role as a member of different teams.

The teaching component takes place in Nottingham and practice placements are provided by the local Trusts in Lincolnshire, Derby, Nottingham, Mansfield and Chesterfield. Students will be supported by a personal teacher at these Trusts.

Entry requirements:

• Current registration on the NMC Professional Register as a nurse (adult level 1)
• Evidence of 120 credits at academic level 1 and 120 level 2 credits through certificated prior learning and/or assessed appropriate experiential learning
• Evidence of professional development demonstrated in a portfolio of learning

A briefing day will be offered to shortlisted candidates that includes a numeracy and biology assessment on 8th June. Successful candidates will be will then be invited to a further interview.

If successful applicants will be provided with a fixed term contract with one of our local Trusts for the duration of the course. The course is jointly funded by the Trust and the Strategic Health Authority.

Holidays are normally planned to coincide with Easter and Christmas periods where possible with some flexibility for other time periods.
