Heatherwood Hospital, Ascot, Berkshire
Are you an enthusiastic, adaptable and ambitious band 5 Nurse with post-registration experience gained in a clinical setting and a real desire to develop professionally and personally? Then make the move to Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust as a Band 5 Endoscopy Staff Nurse and see your career flourish in a brand new state-of-the-art hospital.
There really has never been a better time to join the Trust. We’re opening a brand new hospital in Ascot this winter which will mark a new chapter for both the communities we serve and the people that will work here. A dedicated, state-of-the-art facility using the latest technology to deliver outstanding services, Heatherwood Hospital will specialise in planned, non-emergency operations. It will also have six operating theatres, 48 inpatient beds and 22 day-case cubicles and provide operations, diagnostics and outpatient care to NHS and private patients alike. This is your chance to get in at the start of what promises to be a truly exciting journey.
About the role
Working on a six bedded unit within both nursing and multi-disciplinary teams, your challenge will be to deliver a high quality, courteous, patient focused manner whilst maintaining patient confidentiality at all times. Day-to-day, you’ll be helping to provide evidence based holistic care to a group of patients from admission and procedure, through to discharge. We’ll also rely on you to manage and co-ordinate the unit in the absence of a more senior member of staff and participate in the teaching and supervision of junior staff and student nurses. Along the way, you’ll get to undertake different competencies throughout the endoscopy nursing process and develop your acute care skills, while working closely with an allocated mentor and supported by senior staff and a practice development team.
To succeed, you’ll need to be a Registered Nurse with an awareness of current health issues and an understanding of The NMC code of professional conduct. Endoscopy experience, while useful, is not as important as a genuine Interest to develop knowledge of the clinical speciality and your own practice, while good teaching and assessing skills are essential. Comfortable managing and prioritising a busy workload, you’re flexible in response to changing situations, have excellent attention to detail, are great at solving problems and have the interpersonal skills it takes to work effectively with other members of staff.
Join us, and you’ll be in the ideal setting to deliver excellent care and get more from your career, not least as we’re implementing new patient pathways and ways of working, thus freeing up more time for our people to focus on what they do best. The benefits on offer are brilliant too, and include flexible working, compassionate leave, a staff gym, onsite nurseries and restaurants, staff accommodation and a range of wellbeing programmes. Put simply, we can provide you with everything you need, in an open, supportive culture where the focus on learning and development will empower you to excel, develop and progress.
