Sister/Charge Nurse - Oncology

Sister/Charge Nurse – Oncology
Location: The Harley Street Clinic, Harley Street, London W1G 8BJ
Hours: 37.5 per week
Salary: Competitive, with Shift Enhancements and Excellent Additional Benefits

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Sister/Charge Nurse to join our senior nursing leadership team at The Harley Street Clinic. This is an exciting opportunity for a driven clinician who is passionate about leading people, improving services, and delivering exceptional patient care.

As a Sister/Charge Nurse, you will take on a pivotal leadership role within the unit, acting as a visible and supportive clinical lead throughout each shift. You will ensure safe and effective staffing through proactive workforce planning and act as a key point of support for the wider multidisciplinary team. You will coordinate patient flow, manage complex discharges, and respond efficiently to emerging clinical and operational needs.

You will actively contribute to service development, leading quality improvement initiatives and engaging fully in the audit process to enhance patient experience and staff wellbeing. You will also take responsibility for incident management, ensuring investigations are carried out effectively and learning is shared.
Alongside this, you will lead and support your own nursing team, conducting performance reviews, setting clear objectives, and guiding colleagues through their professional development. You will help foster a positive, high‑performing culture where excellent clinical practice and continuous improvement are standard.

This role is ideal for Senior Staff Nurses (Band 6) with a minimum of three years’ experience in an oncology ward who are ready to progress into a Band 7 leadership position. You will be able to demonstrate experience in leading shifts, supporting junior colleagues, and contributing to service or quality improvement initiatives. You will bring confidence in decision‑making, a proactive approach to clinical and operational challenges, and the leadership behaviours expected of a Sister/Charge Nurse.

At The Harley Street Clinic, you will have access to a wide range of development pathways, including leadership programmes, specialist routes such as Clinical Nurse Specialist roles, education opportunities through the Clinical Practice Education team, and operational pathways towards Duty Nurse Manager positions. You will also be supported through relevant courses, including leadership and advanced communication training.
