Job Title: Prison Healthcare Assistant
Location: HMP Norwich, Knox Rd, Norwich, NR1 4LU.
Salary: £16.40 - £19.05
Hours: 08:00 - 16:00 or 09:00 - 17:00
Length of role: Minimum of 12 weeks with possible extension. Immediate start available.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Prison Healthcare Assistant to join Norwich Prison. HMP Norwich is a Cat B/C prison with a Cat D resettlement unit, located in Norwich, NR1 4LU with a population of approximately 750 over 10 wings and 1 special care unit.
About the Role
You will work as as part of a team delivering care to patients both within the Healthcare Centres and on the Wings / House blocks within the prison environment, managing day-to-day health complaints and long-term conditions. You will have the ability to work effectively as part of a multi professional team within a fast-paced environment.

Essential Criteria
- Previous experience in a similar healthcare or secure setting is highly desirable.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and use initiative
- Willingness to undertake relevant training
- Empathetic, resilient, and adaptable
- Physically able to support patient care and clinical duties
- Prison clearance is essential
Key Responsibilities
Provision of mental health interventions to Service Users within the prison establishment across wellbeing, primary and secondary mental health.
- Deliver high-quality patient care under the supervision of registered nurse
- Assist in clinical procedures and support patients attending clinics
- Administer and manage medicines (following training and competency
- Maintain accurate and timely patient records
- Promote health and wellbeing while preserving patient dignity
- Support clerical and administrative tasks as needed
- Work collaboratively with healthcare professionals and external agencies
- Participate in safeguarding, risk management, and clinical governance processes
