Role Outline:
To review and manage Health Surveillance escalation appropriately by identifying concerns, managing risk for our clients and ensure best practice following HSE and our Clinical assessment pathways.
What you'll be doing:
The role involves reviewing Health Surveillance escalations from the Occupational Health Technician team and other business areas, managing the HS inbox, and screening issues to ensure appropriate next steps are advised. Responsibilities include completing cases from HS escalations, identifying concerns, managing risks, and collaborating closely with the HS Occupational Health Physician team, CMO's and Client Relationship Managers.
Key duties include delivering expert, evidence-based case management services for referrals related to attendance, fitness for work, and other occupational health (OH) advice requests. This includes providing professional, comprehensive written reports and expert guidance on legislative requirements and OH best practices. The position also requires conducting fitness medicals and health surveillance in line with best practices and organisational protocols, evaluating results, and communicating appropriate fitness advice while escalating as necessary.
Additional responsibilities include delivering other OH services, ergonomic guidance, and health promotion, where competent. The role also involves providing clinical supervision and providing feedback to the Occupational Health Team Leaders. Maintaining valid NMC registration and adhering to NMC guidelines on professional issues, clinical supervision, and continuous professional development as a registered nurse are essential aspects of the role.
What we are looking for:
The role requires registration with the NMC (Part 1) and a postgraduate qualification in occupational health (degree or diploma). Strong written skills, attention to detail, and excellent communication with various stakeholders are essential. The candidate must demonstrate effective time management, IT proficiency, and a thorough understanding of their own competence, including when to escalate or seek support for safe practice. Knowledge of data protection, confidentiality, and occupational health legislation is crucial, alongside experience in providing OH advice, conducting general medicals, and performing health surveillance.
