We are recruiting a Duty Nurse manager to join our nursing team at The Princess Grace Hospital currently rated “Good” by the CQC.
The Duty Nurse Manager team are an integral part of the operational running of the hospital, responsible for running the in and out of hours challenges an acute hospital provides.
This role requires a strong leadership background, excellent communication, experience in key decision making, risk management, problem solving and good governance understanding.
The Duty Manager will work closely with the Matron & Chief Nursing Officer to support visible leadership at the Princess Grace Hospital.
The Duty Nurse Manager is responsible for the safe and effective running of the site 24/7 and holds a range of responsibilities including coordinating flow to our inpatient wards, responding to Major Incident situations/alerts, holding nominated Officer of Fire responsibility, out of hours and providing senior support to all units.
As a Duty Nurse Manager , you will provide expert clinical and professional support across all areas of the hospital and associated outpatient facilities. Acting as the first point of contact during out-of-hours periods, you will liaise with senior managers on call and assume responsibility as the hospital manager to ensure the safe and effective operation of hospital systems and services.You will oversee patient flow for both scheduled and unscheduled admissions, working closely with the Urgent Care Centre, Acute Assessment Units, and the Patient Flow Team.In this role, you will lead emergency response plans for incidents such as fire, cardiac arrest, and major events, collaborating with departmental heads to mitigate operational risks.You will ensure accurate assessment of emergency admissions, provide clinical reviews for patients with elevated NEWS scores, and deliver risk-sensitive solutions to complex issues.As a highly visible role model, you will maintain professional communication with internal and external stakeholders, manage challenging situations under pressure, and uphold the highest standards of patient care and safetyAt HCA UK we care about what you care about. What you’ll bring:
NMC registration Level 1
Post registration qualification
Previous/current management experience
Excellent organisational and management skills with the ability to flexibly respond to the needs of the service and the hospital
Complex care/HDU/Critical care experience
ALS qualified (ILS acceptable but will be expected to complete ALS)
Advanced clinical practice qualification (or working towards) or advance clinical assessment course
Commitment to Continual Professional Development
Commitment to Clinical Governance and Quality initiatives
