Competitive salary plus benefitsWe’re looking for a Clinical Nurse Specialist to join our Urology service at The Harborne Hospital.The Harborne Hospital is HCA Healthcare UK’s fourth NHS Joint Venture. It’s a purpose‑built, state‑of‑the‑art, 50‑bed hospital designed with both patients and colleagues in mind. As part of the UK’s leading independent healthcare provider, we deliver complex care across multiple specialties, including Cardiology, Cancer and Complex Surgery. Within this setting, you’ll support the Birmingham Prostate Specialists Service, caring for patients with both benign and malignant urological conditions, and contributing specialist nursing expertise across the pathway.As a Clinical Nurse Specialist in Urology, you’ll be part of a highly experienced, consultant‑led multidisciplinary team, including surgeons, oncologists, senior nurses and wider MDT colleagues. Day to day, you’ll provide expert clinical support, education and reassurance to patients and their families, from diagnosis through treatment and follow‑up. You’ll have the autonomy to use your clinical judgement, contribute meaningfully to MDT discussions, and influence care planning, while being supported by senior nursing colleagues and a well‑established service. Let us care for you and your career, the same way you do for others.What you’ll do:Deliver specialist nursing care for patients with benign and malignant urological conditions, including prostate cancer.
Provide pre‑operative counselling, patient education and ongoing clinical support across the care pathway.
Undertake specialist procedures including bladder scanning, flow‑rate assessments, clean intermittent catheterisation teaching and intravesical therapies.
Contribute to MDT coordination and meetings, using your clinical judgement to support clinical decision‑making.
Support ward teams, contribute to audit activity and help develop and refine clinical protocols using evidence‑based practice.
What you’ll bring:Experience in urology nursing or urology surgical care.
Strong clinical judgement with the confidence to work autonomously.
Excellent communication skills and a patient‑centred approach.
Experience using bladder scanners and flow‑rate monitoring equipment.
A commitment to evidence‑based practice and ongoing professional development.
