Senior Charge Nurse - Out-Patients (Ref: 2849)
37.5 hours per week
Band 7 - Salary Range GBP37,050 - GBP44,688 per annum
plus Distant Islands Allowance of GBP1,841 per annum
Excellent Relocation Assistance of up to GBP8,000
Are you a highly motivated experienced nurse who would like to manage a very diverse outpatients and pre-assessment department? You will manage a team of staff in the outpatient and pre-operative assessment department, including Registered Nurses, Associate practitioners and senior Healthcare Support Workers. You will also provide nursing leadership and expertise and contribute to the education, training and support of fellow health professionals. You will be a Registered General Nurse with extensive post registration experience including working at Band 6 level within a similar environment. You should have or be working towards a degree level qualification or be able to evidence working at an equivalent level through experience and professional development. Quality Improvement qualifications are desirable, but not essential. Successful applicants will be considered for a place on the Scottish Improvement leaders course (ScIL).

Excellent communication skills, experience of mentoring/preceptorship and the ability to work on your own initiative are essential. Skills in audit and policy work would be essential.

The outpatients department at the Gilbert Bain is currently undertaking elective service redesign in service provision and team design; the post holder will lead the implementation using QI methodology. Current repatriation projects include the following specialities; Orthopaedics, Ophthalmology, Vascular, Pre-Assessment, Sleep Diagnostics and Sleep Apnoea, Dermatology and Gynaecology.
