Our client is a UK charity dedicated to the care of people with terminal illnesses.

Job Purpose/Summary:

*The post holder acts as team leader for a team of nurses and health care assistants within the Inpatient areas and supports the Senior Nurse for In-Patients in the active promotion of a positive working environment.
*Pivotal to the post is the development of junior staff to ensure that care is patient-focused and reflects the current and emergent needs of the specialist palliative care population.
*The post holder must work in accordance with the Nursing Midwifery Council (NMC) code of professional conduct and our client's policies and procedures.

Department: Inpatient Unit
Reports to: Nurse Manager (Inpatients)
Accountable to: Hospice Manager
Contract: Permanent

Salary: £25,783 - £34,530 plus High Cost Area allowance
Annual leave entitlement: 27 days plus bank holidays

Notice period: 1 month (after probationary period)
Working hours: 37.5 hours per week
Probationary period: 6 months

Essential Requirements:

*Experience of formal and informal teaching
*Evidence of research-based practice
*Ability to contribute as part of a team to a dynamic environment
*Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
*Ability to offer mutual support and demonstrate a 'can-do attitude'
*Ability to manage time, self and own workload and prioritise effectively

*Up to date knowledge of current palliative care issues
*Understands the importance of developing and following policies and protocols.
*Understanding and support of the benefits of clinical supervision and reflective practice

Qualifications, Training & Education:
*First level Registered Nurse
*Health Related diploma or working towards
*Mentorship / Teaching qualification (ENB 998 or equivalent)
*On a degree pathway

*Experience at Band 5 caring for patients with specialist palliative care needs (hospice/hospital/community)
*Understanding of steps involved in audit and research
*Understanding of steps involved in introducing change
*Understands benefits of working with a patient-centred philosophy of multi-disciplinary team

*Ability to remain calm under pressure

*Genuine commitment to providing high quality care.

Qualifications, Training & Education:
*Relevant first degree or working towards
*Specialist palliative care qualification

*Experience in caring for non-cancer patients requiring specialist palliative care
*Experience of standard setting and audit
*Experience in developing nursing practice
*Experience in leading a team of nurses
