Field Technical Support Specialist - Biotech Instrumentation

Job Summary and Key Responsibilities:

Technical Support:

  • Provide technical and sales support for the UK customers including troubleshooting, routine maintenance, emergency repair visits and demo support on all relevant Hospital and Biotech instrumentation product lines
  • Perform clinical applications activities such as correlation, linearity, and precision, assisting customers with instrument validation
  • Support the Product Specialist in performing on-site application studies, precision studies, bench-top interference studies and linearity studies on the StatStrip product lines and BGA
  • Provide application support on the range of Blood Gas Analysers

IT:

  • Perform data manager and instrument manager installations on a virtual system or a physical system within customer accounts
  • Troubleshoot problems on Windows platforms in a networked environment.
  • Maintain the data manager and instrument manager applications
  • Perform firmware and software updates
  • Provide telephone support or remote support on technical issues for demos or installations
  • Train end users on company supported applications and instruments.
  • Perform pre-sales connectivity and BGA presentations on customer site

Competencies and Qualifications:

  • Position requires demonstrated quality performance as a Field Support Specialist for a minimum of 2-4 years or previous related experience within the clinical diagnostics industry
  • Clinical laboratory knowledge is desirable
  • A Medical Technologist, Nursing and/or Electronics background is preferred
  • Be familiar with web server applications such as Internet InformationService (IIS) and Apache
  • Ability to maintain and troubleshoot computer software by using remote applications (RDP, pcAnywhere, Teamviewer, N3, etc.)
  • Ability to complete software, firmware and hardware installations
  • Good knowledge of computer networking and well-grounded in IT infrastructure components for hospitals
  • Good comprehension of point of care testing within a health care setting
  • Basic experience with databases and virtualisation applications such as SQL Server 2005 and Vmware
