Location – The Lister Hospital (SW1W 8RH)
This role is a 37.5 hours per week Monday – Sunday to cover rotation, you will need to be flexible to work days, nights and weekends.

About the Role:

Level 5 ward is a 13 bedded acute medical unit. The post holder should be able to support the ward manager in the leadership of the unit both clinically and managerially. The post holder ensures they act as a role model to staff, support the ward manager in the delivery of safe, quality care that aims for excellent patient experience. This will suit an excellent senior staff nurse looking to progress their career or a junior sister/charge nurse looking for a new experience. Some experience of leadership in an acute medical unit essential.

Duties & Responsibilities:
To Deputise in the absence of the Ward Manager
To lead and continuously develop an enthusiastic team focused on working together to achieve strategic goal
Work at all times in line with the NMC code of conduct and duty of candour requirements.
Provide clinical leadership to ensure the highest standards of clinical practice
Deputise and represent the Ward Manager at key meetings if required, ensuring that comprehensive verbal and written feedback provided.
Take the lead on the shift, taking responsibility of staff, patient care and other unit matters as required.
Support the Ward Manager with the performance review process, which includes regular review and annual appraisal, individual personal development plans to monitor staff performance against agreed objectives, role competencies and behaviours
With the support of the Ward Manager, ensure that effective and appropriate educational support are provided to staff at all levels.
Build sound working relationships with all colleagues and consultants by being proactive in establishing mechanisms for involving them in the evaluation and development of the service
Participate in the planning of off duty rotas considering skill mix, patient dependency and acuity
Support the Ward Manager in investigating and responding to accidents, concerns and untoward incidents and other significant events.
Participate in the completion of audits and implementation of action plan
Participate in the recruitment process
Participating in weekly MDTs and bed meetings
Supporting junior staff and induct and orientate new starters at ward’s level
Able to plan own workload and that of others, prioritising in accordance with the complexity of patients and their families.
Deliver evidence-based care to patients and their carers in line with their physical, psychosocial and spiritual needs
Take on the leadership of specific projects as agreed by the Ward Manager
Be familiar with ward budget and support the Ward Manager in ensuring the efficient and effective utilisation of resources, both human and financial.

Skills & Experience:
NMC Registered Nurse
Strong experience in a Medical ward setting
Experience leading a team
Mentorship qualification
