An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Staff Nurse to join our established team of pre-operative assessment nurses within the London Bridge Hospital. The role will require the suitable candidate to be competent in taking patient medical history and assessing the patient's suitability for surgery. The applicant will be Pre-Assessing patients undergoing a variety of complex urology procedures, working alongside the Pre-Assessment department and the Urology Nurse Specialists. Full training will be given but it is essential that the candidate has exceptional communication skills together with the experience and ability to work well within a multi-disciplinary team.
Hours: 37.5 hours per week. Pre-operative assessment clinics run Monday to Friday between 08.00 and 18.00 hours. Shifts will be allocated to cover these hours therefore a flexible approach to the needs of the service and working pattern is essential.
The salary for this role is between £38,000 - ££44,661 depending on experience

Duties & Responsibilities:
Demonstrate good clinical practice at all times and to be accountable for own actions.
Work as part of the Pre-operative assessment service ensuring safe and effective pre-operative care.
Demonstrate an advanced level of assessment skills with analysis of clinical findings to determine fitness for surgery.
Work autonomously within the nurse led clinic, but also be a team player by working collaboratively and co-operatively with members of the allied health professionals to meet the needs of patients and their families.
Ensure the principles set out in the Fundamentals of Care are incorporated into daily practice to ensure a high-quality service for the patients and clients.
Awareness of own limitations and escalate to a more senior level circumstances/situations that may be detrimental to the wellbeing of patients or colleagues.
Deputise for senior staff in their absence, demonstrating leadership and management.
Skills & Experience
Registered Nurse Level 1
NMC Registration and PREP requirements
Experience within a general surgery setting.
