Neonatal Transport Nurse

The Neonatal Transport service forms part of the Specialist Transport and Retrieval Service for Scotland - ScotSTAR. ScotSTAR incorporates the Scottish Neonatal Transport Service, the Scottish Paediatric Retrieval Service, the Emergency Medical Retrieval Service (EMRS) and the Air Ambulance Service. ScotSTAR is managed by the Scottish Ambulance Service and undertakes approximately 3000 transfers per year. The North Neonatal team is looking to recruit a highly motivated individual to join the existing team. The post holder will provide nursing care to neonates and their families with the support of the team. These vacancies will offer Registered Nurses (adult/child branch), educated to degree who hold Neonatal QIS, with a minimum of 2 years neonatal intensive care nursing expertise the opportunity to join this unique service. Transport experience, although desirable is not necessary as training will be given in all aspects of the post. The majority of transfers are done using dedicated road ambulances and a small number are done by fixed wing and rotary wing aircraft. The team is led by the Head of Service and a lead Medical Consultant with dedicated transport time, both will support and advise a team of experienced transport nurses and consultant neonatologists. In addition to the clinical role the transport nurse will be involved in the following areas: • Assisting with training of rural doctors, nurses and paramedics • Education and training within ScotSTAR and in conjunction with SAS • Audit and research • Equipment management • Service development • Clinical governance, safety and safe system development • Continuous quality improvement The post will be based at the ScotSTAR Base which is situated at Aberdeen Airport For informal enquiries please contact Ann Marie Wilson onor email
