Mental Health Nurse - Nua Healthcare Services (Gormanston, Co. Meath)

We are currently recruiting for Ireland’s first independently operated Secure Psychiatric Care Service for mental health, set to open in 2024 in Co. Meath, located 30 minutes from Dublin City centre representing a unique and exciting development in Mental Health Service provision in Ireland.

The role will include the following on a day-to-day basis:

  • Safe Management and Administration of Medications
  • Utilising nursing skills to support the delivery of effective front-line support to all Service Users
  • Support the development and implementation of Individualized Care Plans.  
  • Work alongside the Multi-Disciplinary Team
  • Identify supports and work in partnership with the individual, their family and other supports as outlined within individualised Care Plans
  • Assist Nurse Management in the day to day running of a secure inpatient unit
  • Maintain strict confidentiality in relation to staff and patients
  • The provision of mentorship to an allocated team of junior staff


  • Registered Mental Health / Psychiatric Nurse
  • Final year Student Nurse – also considered in anticipation of successful course completion


  • A working knowledge of the Mental Health Act 2007
  • The practical implementation of the Judgement Support Framework 2024
  • The role of the nurse within the multidisciplinary team
  • The application of therapeutic boundaries


  • Experience within a PICU / Forensic (low/medium secure service), custody (police / prison) – highly desirable; but not essential
  • Working within a psychiatric / mental health inpatient unit desirable but not essential
  • Active participation within a fully functioning multidisciplinary team
  • Advocating for patients
  • Facilitation of risk assessments
  • Development of person-centred care plans
