Salary range: £39,942- £45,882 per annum including outer London weighting

Location: Hendon

Job Ref: HED466

Lecturer in Adult Nursing to support HEE Blended Learning Nursing Degree.

We are offering an exciting opportunity for a senior Registered Nurse with experience of nurse education or is already in a Lecturer position to join our team of academics within the Department of Nursing and Midwifery, supporting an innovative blended learning programme for adult nursing students that is part of a Health Education England (HEE) pilot. Middlesex University and University of West of England (UWE) are working in partnership with the Open University (OU) and are one of seven national providers chosen to run this programme.

The programme is designed so that the OU provides the theoretical module input and Middlesex University (and UWE within their own geographical area) provides and supports the practice learning module and placement learning experiences for those students who are identified with Middlesex University. Developing digital capabilities in our student group is also a key aim of this programme.

If successful you will be required to support the students during periods of simulated learning, delivered in our state of the arts skills-centre based at the Saracens Rugby Club ground in North London. You will also be required to support the delivery of the online sessions to support practice learning, act as an Academic Assessor for identified students and support broader practice learning related issues to support placement development and the quality of the learning experience within the Faculty.

You will need to have excellent communication and teamworking skills, be able to engage with a variety of stakeholders, and demonstrate positive professional and educational role modelling. You need to bring creative ideas and clinical expertise to support the development of our nursing students online, in the skills-centre and practice setting. You will need to adapt quickly to using a variety of digital and other learning technologies and be able to participate in change at pace. You need to have a passion for supporting and developing yourself and others.

This post will be two years fixed term in the first instance, with further opportunities offered within the team, as and when available.

This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and requires a Disclosure and Barring Service certificate. You are therefore required to disclose details of any criminal record. ALL criminal convictions, cautions, reprimands or final warnings, even if they would otherwise be regarded as spent under this Act must be disclosed, as well as any other information that may have a bearing on your suitability for the post, including pending prosecutions.

The University will apply for a DBS certificate before your appointment is confirmed.

Contact either Sinead Mehigan, Head of Department, Nursing and Midwifery – S.Mehigan@mdx.ac.uk or Marion Taylor, Director of Programmes - M.Taylor@mdx.ac.uk for an informal conversation if you have queries.
