Children’s services within Oxford Health was rated as ‘outstanding’ in our last CQC inspection.
You will be leading a skill mixed team of community nurses, nursery nurses and administrative support workers with the support of locality team leaders. You will have excellent communication skills and be committed to improving health outcomes to children and families.
You will be expected to:
- To lead, influence and deliver an effective Universal Children’s Service in line with the Healthy Child Programme 0-5 years (DoH 2010) and Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust Health Visitor service specification, within the commissioning criteria.
- To improve health and life chances for children and families within a defined community, through health needs assessment, by applying the principles of health visiting (NMC Standards of Proficiency for Specialist Community Public Health Nurses).
- Establish and maintain partnerships with families and other agencies in multi-agency and integrated working processes, identifying the health needs in a defined population and targeting resources to address these.
- Assess, plan, implement and evaluate individual/ family focused/group programmes of care, working in partnership with other agencies, including early years’ provision.
- Adhere to the Oxford Health Healthy Child frameworks and pathways in relation to our client group.
- Be conversant with and work within local safeguarding, looked after children, domestic abuse and vulnerable children policies, procedures and advice and provide support to the team regarding these.
- Plan, deliver and evaluate public health initiatives through community based health promotion activities, which reflect need and meets the key performance targets of the organisation.
- Be prepared to undertake nurse prescribing in response to assessed need, in accordance with Trust policy and in line with NMC code for non-medical prescribers.
Our Health Visitors in Oxfordshire deliver all 5 core contacts of the Healthy Child Programme and you will have opportunity to join work streams covering the DoH 6 high impact areas.
We offer an exceptional and robust package of on-going training and development, mentorship and supervision .

Full-time and part-time hours will be considered.
