Responsible for the School’s Medical Department, with line management of two Registered
Nurses, the Head Nurse will manage the day to day operation of the School’s medical provision to
890 pupils, ranging in age from 11 to 18, in addition to first aid care to all members of the School
community. Ensuring the highest levels of medical care, they will be accountable for all clinical
and School related compliance requirements, the maintenance of medical records, policies and
procedures.
We are seeking an experienced professional with the ability to reflect best practice guidelines of
the Royal College of Nursing whilst upholding the Nursing and Midwifery’s code of professional
conduct. The successful candidate will have a full RN/RGN Adult and/or Child Nurse
Qualification with either a Specialist Practitioner School Nurse qualification or post-registration
experience working in adolescent paediatrics or A&E. Experience of managing a clinical team is
desirable. Essential qualities include tenacity, forward thinking, the ability to build positive
working relationships and strong IT skills.
Weekly hours are 37.5 for term time plus two weeks during school holidays. Some flexibility with
daily starting and finishing times is required to fulfil requirements of the role.
