Duty Manager Adults
Location – The Portland Hospital
This role is a fixed term contract to start asap and will end July 2022, the role is a 37.5 hours per week Monday – Sunday to cover long days and nights.

About the Role
The Duty Manager will be based at The Portland Hospital for Women and Children, you will hold responsibility as shift clinical Duty Manager for adult services within the hospital incorporating Maternity and Neonatal Services, and Gynaecology as well as Duty Site Manager for the hospital.
Duties and Responsibilities
To act as a clinical expert practitioner and role model of advanced nursing standards, assisting colleagues to develop knowledge and skills in order to benefit the treatment and care of patients in a Critical Care, Maternity or Surgical Ward setting within the Hospital.
To independently assess patient care requirements, demonstrate effective evaluation of nursing interventions and support the initiation of newly planned care accordingly, ensuring patient advocacy is maintained at all times.
Demonstrate clinical credibility and advanced nursing practice within the physical assessment of a patient
Recognise the signs and symptoms of a deteriorating patient and initiate early interventions in a calm and co-ordinated manner. Take the lead in emergency situations and carry out evaluation of care post emergency care situations.
Lead the Resuscitation Team huddles at the beginning of each shift and attend all emergency calls during the shift.
Able to support, coordinate and lead teams during emergency situations (fire, power cuts.). Follow business continuity plans and communicate with Senior Management Team.
Ensure nursing procedures reflect evidence-based practice by continuously participating in the review of policies/ procedures/ protocols and guidelines.
Demonstrates comprehensive knowledge of Clinical Governance processes and has a working knowledge of and implements corporate, local and statutory Health and Safety, and Risk policies by
Reports defective equipment and ensures appropriate action is taken to ensure a safe environment
Has a proactive approach to and takes immediate action when necessary in relation to risk management and assessment
Skills & Experience:
Teaching and mentorship qualification
Certificate, Degree or Diploma in Nursing and Midwifery
Evidence of Senior Nurse level experience
Demonstrate commitment to seamless and consistent high-quality care and services
Demonstrate commitment to personal and professional training and development
Track record of building and maintaining effective working relationships with all disciplines
Interest in research and audit
