DEPUTY DIRECTOR OF NURSING - CONSULTANT NURSE
Salary up to £62,000 per annum
37.5 hours per week to be worked in accordance with the requirements of the role to include shift-work, weekends, bank holidays and on-call provisions
An exciting opportunity has arisen for the appointment of a positive and highly motivated individual who has the ability to work as an independent autonomous practitioner alongside our expert clinical teams at Countess Mountbatten Hospice, to further enhance clinical practice, professional leadership, education and service development.
Hospices have always been part of a ‘Care Revolution’ and this new post has been created to take forward this challenge to provide outstanding care for those facing death, dying and bereavement.
Over the last year, Mountbatten Isle of Wight and Countess Mountbatten Hospice Southampton, have developed a unique partnership, with one senior team leading both organisations. At Countess Mountbatten Hospice we pride ourselves on delivering the highest standard of care and support to patients and their families, and constantly strive to ensure we reach as many people as possible, whenever and wherever they may need us. The hospice serves a population of around 570,000 and covers Southampton, and parts of West Hampshire. It is a registered charity and company.
With a 25 bedded In-Patient Unit (IPU), a large day, self-help and rehabilitation centre, a community nursing team, psychosocial care, bereavement service and an education team, our services and our approach to care are being constantly developed and expanded to meet the growing demands of increasingly complex health issues and the needs of the community we serve. The post holder will be pivotal in assisting the Hospice to adapt and innovate to ensure services are fit for purpose, not just for those who need us now, but for future generations.
A new innovative, challenging five-year strategy has been crafted, focusing on creating a new model of care which will concentrate on reaching more people, care coordination, our key messages and story, volunteers, partnerships and integration and survival and sustainability.
Working together with the Director of Nursing and other service leads the post holder will ensure Mountbatten build talented teams and capacity to meet the exciting challenge of developing and delivering services for the local population. This role is pivotal to every aspect of Mountbatten’s success;
We require an expert Consultant Nurse, with inspirational leadership skills who, together with the existing team, will ensure that we continue to develop new and innovative services, providing excellent clinical care and support to patients and families, whoever they are and wherever they happen to be.
Our ambition requires a nurse with extensive experience of leadership and change management, who can demonstrate proven experience in palliative care, innovative approaches to service provision. The successful candidate will be confident and competent non-medical prescriber, who is educated to Master’s or PhD level, with exceptional communication and motivational skills.
The successful candidate will work closely with the existing teams to lead the development of nurse-led care on the Inpatient Unit in order to develop service provision that meet the changing needs of our population and key stakeholders.
