Community Psychiatric Nurse

We are looking for a knowledgeable and enthusiastic community psychiatric nurse to join a dedicated community mental health team. The service provides care to patients who present with more serious mental health problems. Therefore to be successful in this role you must have excellent communication skills, be confident to carry and case-load and provide assessments, managing risk.

Working as a community psychiatric nurse within the team you will be required to work to identify safe and progressive care in the hope of preventing the need for hospital admissions.

You will be dealing with psychosis and non psychosis, working with difficult to engage patients. These patients mainly experience schizophrenia and schizo-affective disorders. You will also being applying talking therapies to service users who have more mild mental health issues such as anxieties and personality disorders. You will use your experience to provide the highest quality care you can to those who will rely on your help.

This role is for a minimum period of 5 months with a high chance of extension. The successful community psychiatric nurse will begin working as soon as possible. The role is full time with a minimum of 22.5 hours per week, shifts can be worked on a flexible basis. We would be happy to accept a band 5 or band 6 for this role. The role is based in Durham.

As a community psychiatric nurse working for this client your duties will include:

*Supporting patients to work towards living independently within the community
*Providing high quality care to help prevent patient hospital admissions
*Working along side other services to help patients including, social workers, OT's and consultant psychiatrists
*Spending time with regular patients who require their medication to be administered within the clinic
*Carrying a caseload and helping with care plans for patients
*Managing psychoeducation with patients

The minimum requirements for this role are:

- NMC registered

- Registered Mental Health Nurse
