Community CAMHS Practitioner

Community CAMHS Practitioner
Salary: £32,306 - £39,027 p.a
Location: Dorset

About us:

At Dorset HealthCare we’re on a mission to empower people to make the most of their lives through our outstanding, joined-up healthcare services. We’re a dynamic, forward-looking Trust, running 12 community hospitals, specialist inpatient facilities and a wide range of integrated community and mental health services for a population of almost 800,000 people.

We like to do things differently here – it’s one of the reasons the CQC rated us ‘outstanding’, and we were shortlisted by the HSJ for Mental Health Provider of the Year in 2019. It’s also why 95% of patients across our services say they have a good or very good experience of our services and 89% of staff feel they can really make a difference.

Our 7,000-strong workforce is at the heart of what we do and our success is a testament to our brilliant people. Working with us, you’ll challenge yourself, build a career, and teach us what we don’t know. And you’ll be working towards our vision to be better every day through excellence, compassion and expertise in all we do.

About the role:

Looking for a new career opportunity to kick start 2022? Are you a caring and dynamic Registered Nurse / Mental Health Practitioner / Allied Health Professional / Social Worker?

Join our newly expanding mental health team that’s making a difference in our communities across Dorset.

We have had many exciting developments within our CAMHS team recently, including our CAMHS community services being rated ‘Good’ and our CAMHS inpatient unit rated as ‘Outstanding’. We have been fast tracked by NHSE to deliver New Care Models providing a closer to home crisis home treatment service, and NHSE have recently commissioned us to build a new state of the art 8 bed PICU. We are also part of the national trailblazer to deliver Mental Health Support Teams in schools across 3 pilot sites in Dorset.

We currently provide the following CAMHS services across Dorset:

  • 6 community teams
  • 10-bed adolescent inpatient unit
  • Dedicated CAMHS psychiatric liaison services within 3 acute hospitals
  • Out of hours crisis service
  • Discovery college
  • Peer specialists working within our community and inpatient teams

As a Community CAMHS Practitioner, you will be responsible for assessing new young people coming through our Children and Adolescents Mental Health Service. You’ll hold a clinical caseload, undertaking short term evidence based interventions in line with our care pathways and providing ad-hoc duty cover when needed. You’ll work closely with the wider team and ensure high standards of clinical practice when working with all young people and their families/carers.

We work in a mixture of ways – digital, face-to-face, and home working. Whilst the main service base is in Bournemouth, the team covers the county of Dorset so various base hubs are available across the region. We are looking for practitioners who would like to work in the rural areas of Dorset such as West, Weymouth and Portland, North Dorset and East Dorset. Please select your preferred location within your application.

If you are interested in being part of something new, innovative, fast paced and very rewarding, then we’d love to hear from you!
