This is an excellent opportunity for an RGN with previous experience in a surgical setting to join a dynamic and experienced team as Ward Sister/Charge Nurse. My client is part of a national group of surgical hospitals and this service has an excellent reputation regionally. The hospital is looking for a dynamic and hardworking Registered General Nurse to join this team on a full-time basis as Ward Sister/Charge Nurse. The ideal candidate will have a wide range of skills including caring for patients both pre and post operatively following procedures including; cardiac, plastics, ENT, gynae and more.

The ideal candidate will be confident working in fast paced and high pressured environment. You will have experience working in a similar role in a surgical hospital or on medical/surgical wards in either the NHS or private sector. For this role you will need a thorough understanding on all theoretical and practical developments within nursing and be able to act as a mentor to junior members of staff through role modelling good practice. You will be confident liaising with a range of external agencies and working as part of the multidisciplinary team.

You will be responsible for:

  • Supporting the Ward Senior Sister in the effective and efficient running of the ward
  • Coordinating activity to ensure patients receive high quality, person-centred care
  • Working closely with consultants and specialists who are experts in their field
  • Providing the highest standards of nursing care to a caseload of patients
  • Planning, assessing, implementing and evaluating individual person-centred care plans
  • Adhering to Care Quality Commission standards for quality care provision
  • Fully complying with all policies and procedures
  • Supervise and monitor standards of care and take appropriate action to improve standards when required
  • Ensure all clinical documentation is well maintained and filed in the appropriate places

The ideal candidate will possess the following:

  • Registered General Nurse qualified with relevant experience (RGN)
  • Demonstrable experience in a similar role
  • Up to date clinical experience
  • Current and valid registration with the NMC and a legal right to work in the UK
