This is an excellent opportunity for an RGN with previous experience in a surgical setting to join a dynamic and experienced team in Hereford as Matron. My client is part of a national group of surgical hospitals and this service has an excellent reputation locally. The hospital is looking for a dynamic and hardworking Registered General Nurse to join this team on a full-time basis as Matron. In this role you will be expected to ensure safe and effective care to those requiring surgical and medical interventions in the care of the hospital.

The ideal candidate will be confident working in fast paced and high-pressured environment in a senior position. You will have experience working in a similar role in a surgical hospital or on medical/surgical wards in either the NHS or private sector and have demonstrable leadership skills. For this role you will need a thorough understanding on all theoretical and practical developments within nursing and be able to act as a mentor to junior members of staff. You will be confident liaising with a range of external agencies and working as part of the multidisciplinary team and leading the nursing and healthcare team.

You will be responsible for:

  • Delivering effective operational management and inspirational leadership
  • Encouraging improvement of clinical standards care and service across the hospital
  • Acting as a role model for clinical governance supporting strategy for the hospital
  • Adhering to Care Quality Commission standards for quality care provision
  • Fully complying with all policies and procedures

The ideal candidate will possess the following:

  • Registered General Nurse qualified with relevant experience (RGN)

  • Demonstrable experience in a similar role

  • Proven track record of achievement in managing, leading and developing practice

  • Experience of line managing clinical teams and services

  • In depth knowledge of regulatory agenda and mechanisms

  • Ability to stabilise teams, re-engage and drive standards of care

  • Up to date clinical experience

  • Current and valid registration with the NMC and a legal right to work in the UK
