999 Clinical Supervisor - Nurse or Paramedic

Job Reference: 202-324-18

Employer: South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust

Location: Bristol or Exeter

Salary: £28,050 - £36,644 pa + Unsocial Hours Payment *

We are currently looking to appoint Nurses and Paramedics to increase our Clinical Supervisor team in our 999-control room to be based in our North Clinical Hub, in Bristol, and in our South Clinical Hub, Exeter.

Our Clinical Supervisors provide clinical advice and assistance to Control Staff as necessary. They monitor the quality of emergency call categorisation and make interventions across the whole spectrum of health and social care to direct callers to the most appropriate care. You will provide clinical support and advice to Emergency Medical Advisors, and members of Control. You will also provide clinical advice to callers as appropriate.

As an experienced registered nurse or paramedic, your face-to-face assessment and diagnostic expertise would rival any health care professional. However, delivering these skills over the telephone to a worried patient is arguably the biggest challenge in healthcare.

Success relies on the ability of the Clinician to communicate clearly and effectively, working in close collaboration with the wider health and social care network to deliver clinical excellence. Our team expertly deliver this service every day and we are looking for passionate and ambitious clinicians to join us.

In return, we offer flexible working opportunities, fixed-hour contracts and a competitive professional development programme, within a supportive working environment, which both challenges and rewards in equal measure.
Applicants must be a registered Paramedic, Nurse or other appropriate healthcare professional, with a broad general experience as a qualified professional. You must have a wider knowledge of healthcare pathways and have experience in triaging patients.

This can be either a full or part time position but not bank at this time. For internal staff 12-month secondments are also available.

If you would like to find out more information regarding the role you can contact clinicalteamleadersnorth@swast.nhs.uk for Bristol or clinicalteamleaderssouth@swast.nhs.uk for Exeter for an informal conversation. Applicants are welcomed and would be encouraged to arrange a visit to our Clinical Hubs and can do so by contacting the above.

(*) Paid under Section 2 of NHS Terms and Conditions. Please see A4C Handbook attached to advert.
