BMI Healthcare’s Ross Hall Hospital in Glasgow has a vacancy for a Registered Nurse to join their team of staff in the Ophthalmology department.

This is a bank role working on an “as and when required” basis, you will be required to supplement staffing levels during busy periods and provide cover for existing staff in times of annual leave or absence.

Applicants should meet the following criteria:

  • Studies Registered general l nurse level 1.
  • Previous experience working within the acute healthcare sector.
  • Experience of customer care, including interacting with challenging customers and situations.
  • Evidence of relevant clinical professional development preferably evidenced by certification RN with valid NMC Registration.
  • Experience working within an Ophthalmic Outpatient or Theatre setting.
  • People skills
  • Pre and post-operative ophthalmic testing e.g. OCT
  • Administer and dispensing eye drops
  • Patient education in relation to eye health
  • Assisting the surgeon in surgery
  • Deliver the highest standards of nursing care and to ensure the privacy of the client at all times.
  • Respect cultural differences and respond to communication difficulties.
  • Respond effectively to the needs of the Doctors and Physicians in the department.

Duties of this role include: 

  • The provision of professional nursing care based in the Ophthalmic Suite.  Consistently maintain high quality of standards within the Ophthalmic Department
  • To ensure that standards of patient care are consistently maintained at all times in accordance with agreed operational policies and procedures.
  • Working to maintain and enhance the customer service and satisfaction of service users.
  • As a skilled member of the nursing team promote and safeguard the well-being and interests of all patients, employees and visitors
  • Organise the department ensuring an efficient and courteous service is provided for the clients.
  • Provide expertise, knowledge and information as appropriate.
  • Pre and post-operative ophthalmic testing e.g. OCT
  • Administer and dispensing eye drops
  • Patient education in relation to eye health
