This is an exciting opportunity within Bupa Care Services quality and compliance team. You would be joining a well established team of 7 Inspectors to lead and manage the external regulatory process for Care Services across the key care regulators of CQC, CI, CCGs, LAs, Healthwatch, Food Safety, alongside the validation of the internal governance processes. Through robust inspections of services you will provide relevant and timely management information and analysis relating to quality, risk and regulation with recommendations for action to operational managers.

You'll need to be comfortable with travel around the Home Counties location approx. 2 days per week and travel into London approx. 1/2 days per week. Each Friday you will be home based, with 2 days working from home, alternate weeks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the regulatory process for BCS ensuring:
    • Regulatory subject matter expert in all external regulatory frameworks
    • Offering support and advice with any regulatory submissions, challenges or queries
    • Inspect each home allocated as a minimum 2 times per year using a robust plan
    • Generate a detailed report following each inspection within 5 working days of the visit
    • Identify any areas for improvement and actions within the report which need to be taken to support operational internal stakeholders.
    • Internally be identified as a "Set and assess" team member and validate each allocated homes "SMART" audit every 6 months.
    • Effective communication and guidance to all stakeholders to support their role in compliance and governance management
    • Continuous improvement to the compliance and governance policies and procedures
  • Work collaboratively and gain agreement with key stakeholders both internal and external, to simplify and update our policies and procedures associated with compliance
  • Lead and develop activity relating to the quality regulators and key stakeholders and manage associated tasks relating to quality, regulation and risk
  • Review regulatory trends from inspection reports and make recommendations for improvement
  • Based on analysis of trends proactively identify opportunities to develop our strategy to improve overall compliance across Bupa Care Services

Experience Required

  • You will be an RGN, although an active pin isn't necessary
  • Experience of working in a Care Home setting is essential
  • Experience of conducting inspections and CQC knowledge is essential
  • Have a good understanding of the care regulatory environment in the UK and be up to date regarding regulatory changes and guidance across the key regulators and key external stakeholders
  • Be operationally focused and understand customer needs in the care home sector
  • Lead change through effective planning, stakeholder management and communication, as well as good implementation planning and delivery
  • Be a competent communicator, both verbally and written
  • Liaise effectively with a wide range of stakeholders at varying levels in the organisation
  • Be a self starter and can prioritize and manage own time
  • Able to produce reports to a high standard
  • Be analytical and can present data in a timely and effective manner to support business decision making
