Job Description:
To be responsible for providing skilled clinical and technical assistance as a member of the Cardiac Catheter Lab team and to participate in the assessment of patient care needs and implement and maintain agreed standards of care.

Duties and Responsibilities:
-Assist in the positioning and preparation of a patient as directed by the Cardiology team.
-Help to control cross infection by observing departmental policy regarding dress, the maintenance of a clean working environment, decontamination and sterilisation procedures and asepsis.
-Participate in induction and orientation programmes for new staff to ensure a welcoming environment.
-Assist the Cardiac Catheter Lab Coordinator in the Personal Development Plans of junior staff
-Take charge of the clinical area in the absence of an advanced practitioner ensuring patient, visitors and staff safety.
-Ensure all equipment is checked prior to use and any faults reported to the Cardiac Catheter Co-ordinator
-Participate fully as a team member, including working in all areas of the Cardiac Catheter Lab , sharing knowledge and information and supporting colleagues, to promote a cohesive team and the achievement of team objectives
-Prepare patients for clinical/ operative procedures and provide immediate post-procedure care as required.

Skills & Experience:
-Registered Nurse Level 1 registration Diploma or Degree in Health Care Studies ODP Level 3 NVQ ODA 752
-NMC Registration and PREP requirements
-Assessing & Mentoring qualification and experience of supervising and assessing students
-Ability to deliver high standards of care.
-Relevant experience of working in a Cardiac Catheter Lab enviroment
-Knowledge of Health Care issues
