JP Recruit are currently seeking a highly experienced RGN with Oncology & Chemotherapy experience to join the Oncology team within a Private Hospital in Nottingham.

The Oncology Nurse position is a full time position based on the Day Case Ward.

The Hospital’s Cancer Centre opened in July 2012 and enables the hospital to offer a complete cancer treatment services. The services now offer radiotherapy on site so patients now have access to the complete treatment including diagnosis, surgery, chemotherapy, radiotherapy and palliative care all on one site.

The Chemotherapy Service is designed to meet the patient’s needs, offering both Inpatient and Day Case facilities.  


This full time role involved working with the Oncology team to provide a high standard of care. The successful candidate will be working closely with a range of specialist consultants and a Macmillan Team.

Role Purpose:

  • To promote and maintain caring and highly professional standards of nursing; meeting the needs of the patients in all aspects and promoting job satisfaction within the nursing team.

  • The post-holder is responsible for planning and delivery of patient care to the agreed standards.

    Core Responsibilities: 

  • Ensuring that work is carried out in accordance with hospital policies and ensuring that high standards of patient care and good order are provided and maintained.

  • Working closely with Consultants and discussing treatment plans, care provided and future regimes.

  • Recognise situations that may be detrimental to the health and well-being of the individual and take action to avoid or change.

  • Assess, devise, implement and evaluate programmes of care and where appropriate teach and co-ordinate other members of the multi-disciplinary team who may be responsible for implementing specific aspects of patient care. Adhere to the Data protection Act, Health and Safety at Work Act and have knowledge of the disciplinary and grievance policies.

  • Be a fundamental team member and collaborate with other disciplines in ensuring a system that enhances and maintains good relationships and channels of communication within the department 

    Knowledge / Skills / Qualifications: 

  • Level 1 RGN essential

  • ENB 998. 730 or similar qualification desirable

  • Recognised qualification to administer chemotherapy desirable N59 or inhouse training equivalent

  • Minimum of one year post registration

  • Be flexible and able to manage change

  • Good communicator

  • Evidence of professional development

  • Demonstrates excellent understanding of cancer treatments and their side effects/ complications

  •  Cannulation and venepuncture competent desirable
