Job Description:

We’re currently looking for an experienced Nurse or Clinical Nurse Advisor to join our innovative team working within primary care in the NHS. You should ideally have experience in diabetes and qualification within diabetes.


  • Experience with the therapy area of diabetes
  • Qualification within diabetes 
  • Full Time role
  • Comfortable driving
  • Good planning and organisational skills
  • Active NMC 
  • RGN

Key responsibilities: 

  • To work in clinical settings within primary care delivering patient review services and education in line with the Diabetes Standard Operating Procedures
  • To assist in the delivery of evidence based care to patients with diabetes in primary care in accordance with  national and local guidelines, the Nursing and Midwifery Council Code (NMC, The Code) and the Association of British Pharmaceutical Industry (ABPI) Code of Practice
  • To be pro-active and able to work under own initiative, whilst helping to maximise the success of the team
  • To maintain accurate records, both written and electronic, maintaining patient confidentiality at all times
  • To facilitate arrangement of clinics in association with practice staff, providing advice, guidance and educational support for patients with diabetes
  • To develop and strengthen relationships with both external and internal personnel, by effectively utilising communication skills. To act as an ambassador all times
  • Complete all necessary administration in a timely and accurate manner
  • Keep abreast of the latest clinical developments relating to the disease area, along with changes occurring in the National Health Service
  • At all times work within the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) Code of Professional Conduct and ABPI Code of Practice
  • Attend team meetings and conferences as required
  • Maintain all company equipment and materials in accordance with company instructions and policies

Essential Skills: 

Knowledge and experienced required:

  • Experience within the field of diabetes
  • Evidence of continual professional development and desire to maintain updated professional knowledge base
  • Effective and professional communicator
  • Excellent interpersonal and organisational skills
  • The ability to drive is a requirement of this role
  • Enthusiastic and self motivated
  • Good team player
  • Pro-active and able to work independently

Role Specific requirements:

  • Competent and confident within the therapy area
  • Current NMC registration
  • Willingness to remain/become a member of the Royal College of Nursing
  • Satisfactory enhanced CRB Disclosure
  • Willingness to undertake to occupational health pre-employment screening

Preferable skills, qualifications and experience:

  • Good understanding of the NHS
  • Presentation skills and willingness to develop further
  • Problem solving ability
  • Good level of IT knowledge/aptitude or willingness to develop
  • Proven teaching or coaching ability
