Part-time Clinical Research Nurse (102681)

Grade 7: Salary in the range of £29,249 – £34,895 per annum (pro-rata)

We are seeking an enthusiastic part-time clinical research nurse to join our research team, working under the supervision of Nurse Consultant Catherine McClinton and Professor Peter Taylor at the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre (NOC), Oxford. This post is a job share and the successful candidate will be working alongside another research nurse, who is already in post.

One of the projects will be to investigate the relationships between blood biomarkers and radiological abnormalities in patients with osteoarthritis. The purpose of this work is to try and identify tests that will allow the identification of subjects who might benefit from future treatment interventions that are predicted to stop the progression of arthritis. The successful applicant will be a key member of the team with a particular responsibility for recruitment of patients. This will involve travel to a number of hospitals in the Oxford area, with the main base at the NOC site. It will be essential to meet pre-agreed timelines for patient recruitment, consent and subsequent collection and processing of the necessary tissues and samples required for this important study.

Applicants must be a Registered Nurse with relevant post registration experience. It is also essential that candidates have experience of working in the NHS, possess excellent organisational skills, able to prioritise a busy workload, work under pressure and meet deadlines. Candidates must also be able to work individually and without direct supervision, with initiative and be proactive. Experience in planning and arranging academic meetings and a high level of computer literacy is also essential.

This is a part-time appointment (50% FTE) until 31/10/2013 in the first instance.

The closing date for this position is 12 noon on Wednesday, 9 May 2012. Applications for this vacancy are to be made online. You will be required to upload a supporting statement and CV as part of your online application.
