Area Nurse Director

050-NMR562-0817

We are the largest health organisation in Wales and, as a fully integrated organisation, provide a full range of primary, community, mental health and acute and elective hospital services for a population of around 676,000 people across the six counties of North Wales. We serve a bi-lingual population and are committed to improving their health and well-being through everything we do. Employing over 16,000 staff and with a budget in excess of £1.2 billion, we are responsible for the operation of three district general hospitals, as well as 18 other acute and community hospitals and a network of over 90 health centres, clinics, community health team bases and mental health units. BCUHB also coordinates the work of 115 GP practices and NHS services provided by North Wales dentists, opticians and pharmacies.

Two opportunities have arisen for the position of Area Nurse Director based in Llandudno or Mold. Working within a triumvirate with the Area Director and the Area Medical Director for either Central or East Areas the successful candidate will have significant Health Board responsibility and accountability for the delivery of high quality community hospital, primary care, children’s and community services together with operational responsibility for some cross cutting divisional service provision that spans both secondary and community care.

We are currently undergoing a significant period of transformation and the recruitment of a new ambitious Area Nurse Director will be a vital component to this. This is a unique opportunity to define a strong sustainable future for the Health Board and its services, and work with other system leaders to re-shape every aspect of health and social care for the benefit of our local communities.

The Area Nurse Director will be able to motivate and engage at all levels and across all boundaries. To succeed in this role the individual will need to be able to build confidence across the organisation including secondary care and work autonomously in many strategic arenas when representing the Area and the Health Board.
