A skilled and experienced nurse team leader is required in the Edgware area to support a 5-year-old child with cerebral palsy and dystonia. The child is non-verbal but is cognitively very able.  He has specific and complex care needs and receives regular physiotherapy, occupational, and speech and language therapy. The role will include direct support of the client as well the management of his team of support workers.

The team leader role is full time working to a two week rolling rota which includes day, night and weekend shifts.  

The hourly rate is £16.00 per hour during the week and £18.00 per hour at weekends.    

Previous experience of nursing children with disabilities is essential. Applicants must have recent experience of using suctioning machines, administrating medication and PEJ feeding.  Ideally the applicant will have worked with children with the diagnosis of cerebral palsy and dystonia.   The client’s parents will provide very clear guidelines and protocols as how to administer the client’s medication and carry out all clinical tasks.  The team leader will be responsible for risk assessing, support planning,  arranging activities,  health monitoring and liaison with health professionals. The team leader will be required to support the family in promoting the client’s happy, outgoing nature.

The candidate must have experience of managing health care teams.  The role will include managing a rota providing the child with care 24 hours a day.  The team leader will have responsibility for providing the support workers with training, supervision and on-site assessment.

Candidates must have excellent communication skills, be flexible, confident, energetic and have a positive, caring attitude.   Non-smokers only.

You will require an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check (DBS). The job is also dependent on suitable references. Training and regular supervision will be provided.
