This role is within the acute Paediatric Ward which specialises in Congenital Cardiac Surgery, Oncology, Spinal Surgery, Neurosurgery, general surgery and ENT. Job Description: To provide clinical leadership and ensure the provision of high quality nursing care to children and families. Duties and Responsibilities: -To take responsibility for the unit in the absence of the senior nurse -To co-ordinate patient care with the multidisciplinary team -To manage allocated resources effectively and efficiently -To ensure documentation is completed accurately and within agreed timescales -Ensure the provision of appropriate mentors for student nurses, and provide a supportive and challenging environment for students in training. -Ensure individualised care plans are in place for all patients in the designated clinical area. -Ensure an ongoing welcoming, caring and safe environment is provided for patients and their families. -To supervise and support members of the ward team and ensure that all patients receive appropriate care Skills & Experience: -NMC Registered Nurse (RN Adult / RN Child / RSCN) -PILS -Experience of having worked with acute/chronically sick children in a cardiac or oncology paediatric setting -An Assessing & Mentoring qualification and a Chemo Administration course would be beneficial - must be chemo competent -Experience of supervising and assessing students and shift leading is desirable About the Individual: The successful must be chemo competent.
