The University of Manchester and the Christie NHS Foundation Trust seek to appoint a Chair in Cancer Nursing.
The University of Manchester’s Faculty of Medical and Human Sciences, part of the Manchester Academic Health Science Centre, is a leading international centre for research and education. The School of Nursing, Midwifery and Social Work boasts an international reputation for teaching and research and was the top rated institution for Nursing and Midwifery research in the UK RAE 2008 with 85% of research being classed as world leading with circa 50% of Social Work research being similarly ranked.
The Christie NHS Foundation Trust is the largest cancer centre in Europe treating more than 40,000 patients each year and is central to the development and delivery of cancer services across the region and was the first UK centre to be accredited as a comprehensive cancer centre.
The Christie and the University of Manchester have established a well-earned reputation in leading research in medicine, the appointment of the Professor of Cancer Nursing post will see the development of a similar profile in nursing and allied health care, building research capacity and providing leadership across nursing and allied health research, establishing Manchester as a leading centre in this area.
You will be a recognised leader in the field of Cancer Nursing, with extensive clinical experience, a track record in innovative clinical research and high quality peer reviewed publications. You will have had experience supervising postgraduate students and managing the research development of staff and teaching and will be (or eligible to be) NMC registered. You will be an effective communicator, have the ability to work within multidisciplinary teams and act as an ambassador for the University and Trust.
