An experienced research nurse is required to join Professor Clive Ballard’s Clinical Trials Team; supporting the research group with experimental studies related to neurodegenerative dementias and regenerative approaches to treatment. The Clinical Trials team undertake a broad range of trials ranging from disease modifying treatment in early mild Alzheimer’s to a range of pharmacological and non-pharmacological interventions for BPST / brief psychosocial therapy in care homes.

The post will involve co-ordinating the smooth and efficient conduct of research studies. The Research Nurse will be involved in day to day running of research study visits in care homes. He/she will be responsible for the day-to-day running of the trial including the recruitment of patients, study visits, monitoring therapeutic responses and side effects; neuropsychiatric assessments,  collection of blood samples; data collection; accurate record keeping; and general well-being of the patients including conducting ECG, taking blood pressure  and checking vital signs.

The successful candidate will be a highly motivated, experienced research nurse, have excellent communication and clinical skills, a flexible approach to work and be able to demonstrate the ability to work independently as well as part of a multi-disciplinary team, under pressure and to tight deadlines. 

Recent experience of working with people with dementia is desirable.

12 month fixed term contract.

The appointment will made within Grade 6 at £31, 644
