Role Purpose: -The post holder works as an autonomous practitioner providing care for patients accessing the Community Ophthalmic Service, using specialist knowledge and skills. -The post holder will be expected to ensure the provision of high quality patient focused in partnership with the Ophthalmic Clinicians. -The post holder will provide support, and act as a resource to staff of all levels, and develops nursing practice in the delivery of care to ophthalmic patients, through innovative strategies. -To take an active role in the development of ophthalmic treatment in the Community and work closely with clinicians as appropriate. Key Performance Indicators: -To take an active role in the promotion of the eye clinic within the Community, and improve and develop relationships with staff. -To be fully conversant with codes of practice and be aware of legal and ethical issues. -To report accidents, complaints and adverse incidents which occur within the clinic as per policy. -To maintain strict confidentiality of staff and patient records. Any unauthorised breach of confidentiality will result in disciplinary action. -To ensure that acceptable standards of data protection are maintained, in accordance with the Data Protection Act. -To maintain staff confidentiality of staff and patient records. Safety and well-being of oneself, work colleagues, visitors and patients within a clinic in addition to any specific risk management or clinical governance accountabilities associated with the post. Requirements: NMC Level 1 or level 15 Registered Nurse An advanced practitioner either through formal qualification or extensive clinical experience pertinent to the area  Ophthalmic Qualification   Strong leadership skills   Relevant Post Registration Qualification  Excellent oral and written communication skills  Ability to build up rapport with patients  Relevant, demonstrable experience in speciality area  Ability to impart complex information to patients, relatives and carers, with different levels of understanding  Advanced clinical assessment skills or willingness to develop these   To have proven experience in ophthalmology  Ability to work independently and as part of a team  Computer literacy   Patient Centred Approach  Experience of undertaking audits  Basic Counselling Skills   Project Management  Experience of delivering presentations   Being the UK`s largest private healthcare provider, they are able to offer staff excellent training support and progression potential, making this an excellent place to work.
