Research Nurse (Part Time, Fixed Term)

Salary: £28,132-£36,661 pro rata
Applications are invited for the position of Research Nurse/Midwife (equivalent to NHS band 6), to join the recently established Cambridge Blood and Stem Cell Biobank, which works closely with academic research groups and the regional Haemato-oncology Diagnostic Service at the Cambridge Biomedical Campus.
We are seeking a motivated individual to become a valued member of the research team. You will have good organisational skills, a flexible approach to work, and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team. The work will involve recruiting patients with haematological disorders and also expectant mothers, taking blood from out-patient clinics and cord blood after delivery. We are seeking to establish a team of dedicated individuals working at Addenbrooke's Hospital and the Rosie Hospital for the Cambridge Blood and Stem Cell Biobank. The primary aim of the team is to support local researchers and their collaborators in the study of blood development, function and disease. To do this, the successful applicant will also be expected to build relationships with clinical staff and investigate and implement new methods to recruit patients to the study.
The successful applicant should have a current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council. Experience of research or clinical trials would be advantageous.
Offers of employment will be conditional upon (i) the satisfactory outcome of a DBS check. Whether an outcome is satisfactory will be determined by the University; and (ii) securing a research passport with Cambridge University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.
The closing date for this vacancy is Thursday 15th May 2014. Interviews are expected to be held in the week commencing 19th May 2014.
Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available until 31 March 2015 in the first instance.
