About the Role:
You will work as part of the multi disciplinary team to deliver a high standard of care to patients undergoing medical treatment. You will be responsible for the assessment of patients care needs and for the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care.

You will ensure high standards of care for patients and their families by:
-Delivery and management of direct nursing care
-Working with agreed nursing standards and according to Nursing and Midwifery Council Code for nurses
-Being accountable for nursing outcomes
-Enhancing the quality of care by assisting with the management of change in nursing practice based on evidence/research.

About the Department:
Their busy Dialysis Unit within the hospital has 8 Stations, is mainly nurse led and is home to two nephrology consultants and a renal transplant surgeon with highly skilled and qualified nurses.

They offer a pleasant and relaxed atmosphere with hard working, patient focused, highly motivated and dedicated team delivering a high standard of individual patient care at all time.

They are very active in renal transplants undertaking on average 12 kidney transplants per year with excellent patient outcomes.

They provide:
-Chronic and Acute dialysis for in and out patients.
-Therapeutic Plasma Exchange and support for Molecular Adsorbent Recirculation System ( MARS therapy for Liver diseases).
-Bicarbonate dialysis.
-Button hole Cannulation method of Arteriovenous Fistula implemented.

They use the latest Gambro machines and their Renal Technician has over 30 years experience.Consumables used - Gambro high flux dialysers, steam sterilised. No re-use of dialysers and blood lines.

All patients are screened for viruses, Hepatitis B, C and HIV, prior to dialysis. They have separate dialysis facilities for positive patients.

Future plans and new developments include Haemodiafiltration for better clearance and better patient treatment outcome, Lipopheresis to reduce high cholesterol levels.
