The department currently has 4 Theatres, providing a service of complex care surgery for both adults and paediatrics. Job Description The Scrub Nurse will be responsible for providing skilled clinical and technical assistance to the operating team. They will participate in the assessment of patient care needs and implement and maintain agreed standards of care. Hours of work are rotational shift patterns including early and lates and 2 weekends per month as well as 3 on-call shifts a week. Part time, flexible working and bank positions are also available Duties and Responsibilities Assessing, planning, delivering and evaluation of peri-operative patient care Participate in the delegation and supervision of junior grades, unqualified and less experienced staff Participate in education, training and development of other staff Take charge of the clinical area in the absence of an advanced practitioner ensuring patient, visitors and staff safety Assist in the positioning and preparation of a patient as directed by the surgical team and ensure that any specimens are correctly labelled and dispatched to the laboratory Skills & Experience RGN/ODP Scrub nurse experience in adult and Paediatric neurosurgery Able to demonstrate a good knowledge of scrubbing for complex neurosurgery and cardiac cases About the Individual The successful candidate will be a good team player with strong organisational and communication skills. They will have an understanding of resource management and the ability to prioritise and work under pressure. Flexibility and enthusiasm are also essential.
