Experienced Registered Nurses

Gerontology Group

We are currently developing and strengthening our ward nursing complement and are seeking to recruit enthusiastic and experienced band 5 Registered Nurses that wish to be a part of a specialist gerontology service.

You must have a positive attitude and be able to demonstrate a passion to care for older people.

Ward 40 is a well established and cohesive 42 bedded acute gerontology ward based on the fourth floor of University Hospital, East wing. The ward caters for elderly patients that have been admitted with a variety of medical conditions for assessment and management by a specialist gerontology team.

There are a variety of nursing developments in gerontology including gerontology specific competency programmes, nursing older people education programmes, specialist gerontology nursing roles and advanced nurse practitioner roles. This means that as a staff nurse joining gerontology, you would not only be supported in developing specialist gerontology nursing skills and knowledge, but also have the opportunity for future career progression into senior specialist and advanced nursing roles should that be of interest to you.
