You will be working within the largest clinical Division in the Trust that is responsible for the following areas:

Accident and Emergency which treats adults and children who present with a variety of conditions and the Acute Care Unit (ACU) which is a 35 bedded acute admissions ward, accepting medical, surgical and orthopaedic admissions directly from the Emergency Department.

Specialty wards in areas such as Cardiology including ultrafiltration, Respiratory, Acute Endocrinology and Haematology, Gastroenterology and Rhuematology.

The Regional Neurological Rehabilitation Unit which offers rehabilitation to patients who have experienced a brain injury and Graham Ward a 24 bedded stroke ward which accepts patients direct from HASU and offers both acute and rehabilitation care.

The Elderly Care Unit which is a 56 bedded unit which offers acute and rehabilitation care to patients over 65years old and Mary Seacole Nursing Home, a 50 bedded nursing home which is over seen by a Consultant Geriatrician which offers both continuing care and respite care.

Adult Community Nursing which has four adult community nursing teams who work within Hackney and the City to deliver care to patients within their home environments and clinics.

You should be a registered nurse (adult branch) or a student nurse on their final placement, with excellent communication skills and the ability to work using your own initiative as well as working effectively within a team. You must understand the importance of patient care and have the ability to assess, plan, implement and evaluate a care plan, recognising the specific needs of patients and relatives.

As part of the open day selection you will be required to successfully complete a drugs and accountability assessment followed by an interview. In return you will be given a tour of the hospital area and have the opportunity to meet the Senior Clinical Teams to ask any questions about our Acute Medical services.
