IDTS Cluster Lead Nurse (Substance Misuse)
HMPs Belmarsh, Thameside & Isis YOI - London

Statistics from Prison Reform Trust in 2013 show that 64% of offenders reported to having used drugs in the 4 weeks prior to custody. Over 55% of the total number of offenders report committing offences connected to their drug taking.
As an exceptional Clinician with a significant interest in substance misuse, you will be given the opportunity to use your skills, experience and expertise to coordinate, lead and implement our dependency strategy. You will also develop a team of dedicated healthcare professionals in their delivery of first class support, treatment and preventative techniques. Our established Integrated Drug Treatment System (IDTS) team are passionate about the instrumental part they play in being directly involved in changing lives.
Having worked within a prison or similar secure setting previously, you will appreciate that this role will be challenging. You will need to have the ability to remain calm and use decision making skills in challenging situations. A great sense of humour really comes in handy too. The environment is safe and you will still get to work autonomously, and the rewards/ support with your CPD and leadership development can be tremendous.
This is a responsible position, equal to the level of NHS Band 8. To be successful in this role you will be a qualified RGN or RMN with significant exposure to substance misuse and implementing strategy to reduce drug use. You will ideally have a related qualification to support this, e.g. RCGP Part 1 or 2.
