Senior Staff Nurse - Paediatrics HCL is working with one of the most prestigious and respected private hospitals in London, specialising in complex, cancer, cardiac and neuroscience, care for both adults and children. This role is within the acute Paediatric Ward which specialises in Congenital Cardiac Surgery, Oncology, Spinal Surgery, Neurosurgery, general surgery and ENT. Job Description The Senior Staff Nurse will provide clinical leadership and ensure the provision of high quality nursing care to children and families. The hours of work are rotational shift pattern of lates, nights and weekends. Part time, flexible working and bank positions are also available. Duties and Responsibilities To take responsibility for the unit in the absence of the senior nurse Ensure the provision of appropriate mentors for student nurses, and provide a supportive and challenging environment for students in training Ensure individualised care plans are in place for all patients in the designated clinical area Ensure an ongoing welcoming, caring and safe environment is provided for patients and their families To supervise and support members of the ward team and ensure that all patients receive appropriate care To co-ordinate patient care with the multidisciplinary team To manage allocated resources effectively and efficiently To ensure documentation is completed accurately and within agreed timescales Skills & Experience NMC Registered Nurse (RN Adult / RN Child / RSCN) PILS Experience of having worked with acute/chronically sick children in a cardiac or oncology paediatric setting An Assessing & Mentoring qualification and a Chemo Administration course would be beneficial Experience of supervising and assessing students and shift leading is desirable About the Individual The successful candidate will be committed to providing exceptional patient centred care.
