Senior Staff Nurse - Paediatrics

This role is within the acute Paediatric Ward which specialises in Congenital Cardiac Surgery, Oncology, Spinal Surgery, Neurosurgery, general surgery and ENT.

The Senior Staff Nurse will provide clinical leadership and ensure the provision of high quality nursing care to children and families.
The hours of work are rotational shift pattern of lates, nights and weekends. Part time, flexible working and bank positions are also available.
Duties and Responsibilities
To take responsibility for the unit in the absence of the senior nurse
Ensure the provision of appropriate mentors for student nurses, and provide a supportive and challenging environment for students in training
Ensure individualised care plans are in place for all patients in the designated clinical area
Ensure an ongoing welcoming, caring and safe environment is provided for patients and their families
To supervise and support members of the ward team and ensure that all patients receive appropriate care
To co-ordinate patient care with the multidisciplinary team
To manage allocated resources effectively and efficiently
To ensure documentation is completed accurately and within agreed timescales
Skills & Experience
NMC Registered Nurse (RN Adult / RN Child / RSCN)
Experience of having worked with acute/chronically sick children in a cardiac or oncology paediatric setting
An Assessing & Mentoring qualification and a Chemo Administration course would be beneficial
Experience of supervising and assessing students and shift leading is desirable
