I am currently recruiting for a leading oncology focused private hospital that is looking for a Sister/ Charge nurse to work in their very modern outpatients unit. The unit has 10 chairs, Radiology and a support service. The successful candidate will be working within a close team and will have 4 Senior Staff Nurses reporting to them. Job Title: Oncology Outpatients - Sister/ Charge Nurse Salary: £38000 - £45,000 (based on experience) Role: Permanent Hours: Monday - Friday (9am - 5pm) The successful applicant will provide clinical management and leadership to all staff working in the department, ensuring a high standard of nursing care at all times. Duties and Responsibilities - To take responsibility for a team of nurses ensuring systems are in place for cascading information and that there is a forum for team discussion, sharing of ideas and delegating areas of responsibility - To set and maintain a high standard of nursing care - Provide patients and their relatives with information regarding the care and management of their condition - To assist the Senior Sister / Charge Nurse in creating and maintaining a safe, therapeutic clinical environment for all patients and their families who come to the area. - Make use of available resources with regard to budgetary constraints and Corporate, Hospital and Departmental business objectives - To monitor care delivery through audit and take part in the development of action plans to improve standards as required - To take responsibility for ensuring the department has up to date and effective evidence based policies in place for staff to follow - To ensure continuous staff development through the competency based appraisal system and follow up with individual developmental plans Requirements: - Registered Nurse Level 1 - 3 years experience in a Cancer / Outpatient setting - Mentorship / preceptorship qualification - Experience as a Sister - Management Person specification: - Confident - Personal / approachable - Professional with a can-do attitude - Good negotiation skills - Team player, gets on well with the staff - Good negotiator, open but firm when needs to be - Leads / delivers on projects This role also offers amazing benefits!
