Neonatal Matron HCL is working with a hospital known the world over for its clinical excellence, it is the only private hospital in London entirely dedicated to women and children. They`re proud to have developed a reputation as one of the world`s leading providers of private healthcare, specialising in Obstetrics (Maternity), Women's Health and Paediatrics. The hospital has been consistently growing over the past few years, almost doubling since 2008. The Neonatal Unit consists of 6 cots, 3 of which are Intensive Care and 3 Special Care. The unit serves the maternity department which carries out approximately 2,000 deliveries a year with women attending for delivery from throughout the UK and abroad. The caseload ranges from premature infants, infants with congenital and surgical diagnosis to infants requiring short term nursing support. Job Description The role of the Neonatal Matron is to provide operational and clinical leadership to support the Maternity and Neonatal Services Manager and the nursing teams in providing high quality care. The post holder will also be expected to develop and maintain positive Consultant relationships and support the nursing teams in the delivery of key agenda items such as the Clinical Services Framework for Excellence, Integrated Governance Strategy and All of Us principles. Duties and Responsibilities To support the Maternity and Neonatal Services Manager to develop the neonatal services and meet the neonatal objectives of the Business Plan To actively educate the nursing team ensuring they have the skills to deliver the needs of the nursing service in a safe, efficient and effective way To develop practice within the unit through on-going training and development of staff by identifying individual training needs, facilitating courses and delivering training sessions To conduct practical assessments signing off relevant clinical competencies To be highly visible and available to patients and their parents/carers thereby promoting confidence in our services To promote and enhance patient focused care by assessing areas of risk in relation to patient safety and implementing initiatives to improve patient experience Skills & Experience NMC Registered with a valid RGN/ RM /RN (Child). First level degree or diploma in neonatal practice (QIS). ENB 405/R23/A99 Mentoring and Assessment Course / ENB 998 equivalent Broad experience relevant to the post and extensive post registration experience within a relevant clinical speciality Evidence of ongoing professional development, at a minimum educated to degree level or equivalent Well developed leadership and influencing skills with the ability to motivate and enthuse individuals / teams Practice development and / or teaching experience Responsive and sensitive to patients` physical, psychological, spiritual and cultural requirements About the Individual The successful candidate will be motivated by continuously updating and sharing their knowledge, ensuring that the team around are always in line with best practice standards and have industry leading information. They will be seeing patients with high levels of acuity and will be able to communicate with them with tact, diplomacy and sensitivity, whilst remaining professional.
