Staff Nurse Medicine & Oncology Located in the heart of London`s esteemed medical district, this newly-refurbished hospital offers a wide range of medical and surgical specialties. Supported by world-class doctors from leading London teaching hospitals, the hospital has 120 beds, including a purpose-built intensive care unit, catering for Level 3 patients. The eight fully-equipped theatres include three laminar flow theatres for orthopaedic surgery, a hybrid theatre to enable complex vascular surgery, a robotic surgery suite along with some of the most advanced radiological diagnostic facilities in the country. The unit consists of 20 beds with a mix of medical and oncology patients, typically receiving medical emergency admissions from our dedicated Urgent Care Centre. We also undertake chemotherapy administration and palliative care. Job Description The post holder`s main responsibility will be to assess, plan, deliver and implement a high standard of nursing care, ensuring that the individual needs of the patient are responded to. The position will require effectively working within the team, supervising junior staff and deputising for senior staff when necessary, as well as independently. Duties and Responsibilities Provide the highest standards of quality holistic nursing care using evidence based practice. Demonstrate good understanding of medical, haematology and oncology nursing. Demonstrate compassion and empathy at all time. Work closely with the multidisciplinary team in order to provide the best possible experience for our patients. Assess, plan, implement and evaluate care to meet the patient and their family`s needs Early recognition of clinical problems and report or take appropriate action Maintain accurate records Decontaminate equipment, ensuring it is in good working order Skills & Experience NMC Registered Nurse Contemporaneous experience within a Cancer specialty with a minimum of 1 years post registration experience Evidence of continuing professional development linked to demonstrable competencies Be prepared to achieve a mentorship qualification Be committed to working towards a specialist qualification Skilled in Phlebotomy / Cannulation / Care of CVADs/ IV administration Patient assessment skills About the Individual The successful candidate will be adaptable and able to meet changing working patterns and caseload, working independently as well as within the team.
