Staff Nurse - Cardiothoracic specialist hospital - Cambridgeshire The Hospital; This top NHS hospital is the UK`s largest specialist cardiothoracic hospital and the country`s main heart and lung transplant centre, treating over 23,700 inpatient and day cases and nearly 65,000 outpatients each year from across the UK. The Trust employs over 1,600 people, and it is also a national centre for a range of specialist services, particularly the UK`s leading adult heart and lung transplantation centre. The Hospital`s facilities include five operating theatres and five angiographic suites as well as 276 beds, spread over a dozen wards and units, and including a recently extended Critical Care Area. The Role; Working at this specialist hospital, nurses will get fantastic experience working on cardiac wards, specialising in coronary angiography, angioplasty and stenting, transcatheter treatment of valve disease; Electrophysiology (EP); device implantation; Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting (CABG); and valve repair or replacement. There are also vacancies on the thoracic wards, where nurses will be able to treat patients with Cystic Fibrosis (CF), patients with recurrent infections (Cambridge Centre for Lung Infection CCLI), Interstitial Lung Disease, Pulmonary Vascular Diseases. This is the only hospital in the UK to provide Pulmonary Endarterectomy surgery, lung cancer and patients requiring respiratory support and sleep medicine. The Location; This hospital, in the beautiful county of Cambridgeshire, is located just 20 minutes from the centre of Cambridge. From here, there is direct train to London taking just 75 minutes, whilst Cambridge airport is able to provide direct flights to many international destinations.
